In a sense, Data Import and Data Update do not differ in their function. You use them when you have data in a file and you need this data in your program. For user convenience, Loader separates these two functions in a clear and straightforward way:
- When you have new records of a data object, supported by your app and you want to load them into your app, you use Data Import.
- And if you need to change or enrich the info in certain data fields that are related to a data object, you use a Data Update.
You can read about the difference between data objects and data fields.
Example. Your salesmen have made fifty new deals, which you need to enter into your CRM at once. To do that, you would use Data Import. If the quantities, amounts, or deadlines on some of that deals change later, you will be able to adjust them with a Data Update.
